An interactive revision guide, that sets out to inspire young minds in the world of science.
Odyssey

Overview
This was my final year project and it is an application that allows users to conduct a range of virtual science experiments that can’t always happen in a school setting and instead can be conducted in the comfort of your own home. It is an educational product to aid students through their revision through the use of bright imagery and interactive features.
Research
In order to understand the needs and wants of Odysseys target audience I needed to conduct extensive research. I used techniques that I had learned during my time at University and my placement such as, user personas, empathy maps, competitor analysis, interviews (students and teachers) and surveys.

With my research complete and a better understanding of what I wanted to create and for who, I began to build Odyssey.
Sketches
My sketches ranged from branding ideas, information architecture, user flows and later in the design process I was sketching out new components or variations of existing ones.
Sketching out my ideas initially was important throughout this process as I could look back on my work and see the progress I had made.

Wireframes
Wire framing my sketches allowed me to finalise the layout of my screens and show what pages I needed to include to complete the user flow.
My lo-fi mockups included a complete user flow through the project with the introduction of the revision questions and content that I had curated during my research phase.
I was also exploring accent colours to include in the design and struggling to find one that wouldn’t clash with the functional colours I had already placed within the design.
Lo-fi mockups

Hi-fi mockups
My hi-fi mockups shows the inclusion of my bright and colourful images that bring the application to life. I wanted to create images that showed specific steps of the experiment so that the . user had a visual aid to follow along with however, I wanted them to follow a comic book style.
To create my photos I used Midjourney which is a generative AI program that creates images from text prompt and allowed me to create consistent images in my chosen style with exquisite detail.

Prototype
This project has been an emotional journey and while I have found it difficult at times, I’m proud of how far it has come from that first idea to now.
